CITY OF BOULDER SNOW PLOWING

Snow Plowing Start-Up and Priorities

Plowing of snow will begin with an accumulation of two-inches (2”) of snow on the streets, or as weather conditions warrant.

All city streets will be plowed according to priority 1 through 3; with Priority 1 being schools, businesses, etc.; Priority 2 being residential, and Priority 3 being street radius’ and alleys.

Our goal is to plow all residential streets in Boulder as quickly as our small, but dedicated staff will allow.

Snow Plowing Speeds

Plowing speed shall not exceed 25 mph and should be slower under most conditions.

While operating City equipment, all operators will exercise care and good judgement at all times to avoid accidents and/or damages to City equipment or other property.

Snow Berm Removal

Snow berms deposited in front of driveways, around parked vehicles, or any type of debris, WILL NOT be removed by the City crew.  The City recognizes that blocking driveways or plowing berms around parked cars causes inconvenience, but at times this is unavoidable, as the crew is focused on making streets useable.  The burden of removing such snow deposits is the responsibility of the property owner(s), occupant(s), or vehicle owner(s).

The City of Boulder does not prohibit private citizens or contractors from plowing snow in City public right-of-way.  However, the City does require all private snow plow operators comply with traffic laws and use proper safety equipment when moving snow on the City streets.  Snow plow operators must not deposit snow or ice in such a way that it obstructs the access to any fire hydrant, crosswalk or curb ramp.

Who do you contact with questions or concerns?

If you have not seen the City crew plowing your street 48 HOURS AFTER IT QUITS SNOWING, please call the City office at 225-3381.

The City crew and administration appreciates your patience and understanding.

I am in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection, but with Montana it is love, and it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.
